Onam is the main festival of the people of Kerala, GODS OWN COUNTRY. According to legend, Onam is celebrated, which marks the coming of King Mahabali. It is the day when the grateful Kerala pays glorious tribute to this generous king who gave everything for his kingdom. The festival symbolises the selfless and unconditional love of the king for his subjects.
On the eve of Onam celebration, the staff of MVJIS were dressed up in the traditional attire of Kerala. Floral carpets were done by the students of Grade 1-10 along with their respective teachers that marks the festival. The bulletin board was also furnished by the students, that added to the festivities. There was a full zeal and enthusiasm among the staff and children, who were briefed about the significance of the festival through a dance performance and also a skit. The entire celebration for the students took place physically and the seemingly happy faces made the day even more eventful and joyful.
Also, this day marked another important celebration- Hindi Diwas celebration. The students from various grades participated in various activities planned and organised buy the Hindi department. The assembly was conducted in Hindi along with the other instructions by the students in the assembly. Dance performances, speeches and poem recitation marked the event in a brighter light.
